Yes I know, my horrible commentary!!! E-Gad...

Hope this helps somebody, although it is literally just me scribbling and occasionally using overlaid layers.

This is mostly raster painting except for some vector trickery in the diamond itself.

this is really great do you think you could slow it down into a tutorial form for those of us who would like to learn some of these techniques

For me: Painting merely is taking an image you already have, whether it is what you see with your eyes or what is in your mind, flattening it down and copying it as best you can on a canvas, either digital or analogue.

It starts with identifying the most basic shapes in the image and then working to build up the rest...

The perspective, lighting and depth is built up until it looks good enough to say, I am happy with this.

One of my favourite images summarizes the process I use, called 'how to draw an owl'.
Step One: Draw Circles.

Step Two: Draw the rest of the Owl.

It's a little less of a jump than that for me.
I work by outline as opposed to framework it with circles and polygons.
Sometimes I will use a framework, but I mimic the image in my head for the most part.
It's basic shape, Blocking the dark and light areas, adding highlights and dark zones.
Once I got that blocked out, I can basically see how it looks from there.
Just fixing from then until I have my image.

Go to my past post in page 3 it pretty much highlights the best way of learning to draw in stages, I know it's a burn on time but as you get used to drawing it gets faster.

Good. Serve me some eggs and toast. I'm hungry. Very Happy

ummmm How is this Rey Rey getting served? I don't get it. It's a very good ring tutorial but Why am I served? Shocked

I just said he didn't do the hand. Very Happy He didn't. Razz He did a nice job on the ring.

Just getting that blocking stage done and some detailing, can't make a yoke topic without breaking some eggs. Wink

Don't worry ReyRey, I will get that order to you... Just have to finish blocking it out and painting it in. Razz This one is on a slower capture rate and I will add commentary to it when I am done.

It's a rough sketch based on an image, it isn't meant to be an exact duplicate, just showing people how to lay everything down and basically how things evolve over time.

Laughing Laughing Laughing

Anyone else going to draw anything?
