One day a week Question

Seperate contest is not a bad idea also. Cause you can't compare gifs and chops... imo.
I love a good gif. In this thread you see lots of examples/reasons why Wink
But there are always people who don't vote for gifs. If they are in a seperate contest, the gifs and the chops get the attention they have a right to.

And this all in my awesome blurry English! Laughing

When i'm going to vote into a contest, i usually vote for the best chop. Gif or not. To make a separate contest means we don't feel gifs like chops.
When i make gifs, i know some people don't vote for me. It's not a problem for me. Ther are other people who do that.
This is only my view. Wink

Just out of curiosity...why aren't gifs allowed in the H2H contest?
I hope that it's a matter of integrity. In a judged competition that's taken seriously, it's essential to compare apples to apples.
It simply makes no sense to judge a moving image against a still one, much like it doesn't make sense to judge a story against a song.
Personally, I believe the original spirit of this site was to create the best possible still image by manipulating the daily source - even if it meant using Gimp or Corel (as some still do).
However, since it's called Photoshopcontest, many believe it's about showcasing one's skills in Photoshop, no matter what advances Adobe comes out with.

Back when I took voting results more personally, there was a contest where I placed third, about 20 votes behind a gif, and it really chipped away at my enthusiasm here.

Now, when I vote for gifs, I try to vote for the ones that tell a story even as a freeze frame.
I still think gifs should be in a separate category, but since I started viewing contests as more fun than serious competition, these things just don't bother me as much anymore.

Gifs can be great chops.Such as your last work(win). But sometimes it's not...they got credit anyway...you can say wow!that guy spent hours on that chop and it looks great but that "waving tail kitty" looks sooo cute and I hope it will win...and that gif can be 10 minutes work that actually looks like "stop in the name of all which does not suck" thing...

Ok. you can see my work and see also that only prize i have won here is with gif that had few "cute" comments. Embarassed

Just saying

Voting is subjective.
This was a winnin entry 20 minutes chop :

and this was a 10 minutes winning entry:

and here i worked a lot.....without satisfaction:

contests:

http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/176256/a-nice-sunday-morning.html
http://photoshopcontest.com/view-entry/167304/little-one.html

So it doesn't depend on still or gif......10 minutes or 3 hours. A great idea and a good execution can be better than a bad idea perfectly executed... a funny still image can be better than a normal great gif.

It is my highest vote posting ironically I won a contest with lesser votes

and with the rotten size constrictions, it's amazing to see any gifs
