PSC shoulda jumped all over this, a long time ago. This site could easily be expanded and therefore redesigned in order to cater for both still and moving image contests. Perhaps you should prepare and thus forward a proposal to whoever takes care of this place and essentially think about the possibility of a fruitful expansion process. Two subsites working as one, perhaps! It's all about money and risk and whoever is willing to give and take it.

I dunno. It's just an intial thought.

you don't think this seriously
just think about this in the PSC we are about 50 active choppers from all around the world and who regularly chop gif just 5 members
and if you want make a site like PSC you need a lot of work you can't download a template like this

but if I make a gif contest page then I make an animated logo

huh?
I have no intention to make the site as large as PSC because I know the market is smaller. In an ideal world I would like to develop a sister sight where all members here have access to both. It would have its own forum and such and could feature content from both sites, increasing visibility of both pages. I would also only have contests three times a week as Gifs take a lot of time to develop no matter how simple.

what is the most important to me is the humor
if you can do it a static picture this is the best choice (to me)
but sometimes you can't do it your idea just in animation
the worst when you must write in the picture or animation I did both
but if the result is funny I don't care what was the technic

Here is my two cents on this gif matter. If it matters at all.

Creating a gif does require talent, and this site has seen some wonder gifs. I actually have a couple of them in my favorites.

However, unless you have a WOW static image, especially in a blind contest. You do not have a chance in getting the votes if you are up against a gif.

Take today's contest for example. There are some really nice entries, but most likely the one gif in the contest will most likely take the prize. It already has over 80 views compared to the average 50 views for the other entries.

I might not know how to create gifs as well as some, but it is sort of discouraging to enter in contests that have gifs also.

My thoughts, have a separate section for gif only contests.
