Hello guys, good afternoon.

Not sure this is the right forum category where I should open this kind of topic, but I hope that it does not have great importance, my desire is to help.

I see constantly new members enter the site and begin to participate in the contests, as well as older members are always moving the contests with great entries making this site a real nice pleace to be.

Well, I realized that the site does not require that we credit the images we all use to create our job, anyway, some members show, some not. I even sometimes show, sometimes not. But regardless, I use only stock images, is a habit of working with this kind of image, either from free sites or paid sites, since my work for clients I use images from sites like Depositphotos.

But I'm not here to talk about my work, i want to share with you some free and amazing (believe me) sites where I used to find stock to my manipulations to contests, or just to myself.

Why?

Unfortunately we can not always see entries using good images, the idea can be great, the concept can be great, but the chosen images do not help.

Some of you will know some of these sites, but i want to show you another places that you can find free of copyright and excelent images for free.

I will start with one great site, CG Textures. You will find some PNG images from Decals (etc...) already cut, like this:

http://www.cgtextures.com/
Just look at the left menu to see a thousands of images and textures options. You'll need to register to make your downloads.

After that some nice sites as:

http://www.sxc.hu/
http://www.morguefile.com/
http://www.photoxpress.com/
http://www.rgbstock.com/
http://www.stockvault.net/
http://www.stockfreeimages.com/

And the most know category in Deviantart: http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/

Sometimes i used images from Flickr, there's a way to check the CC before download an image for manipulation. There are free images and other prohibited. But I think it will not be necessary to detail this step because the links i already put here are sufficient for now.
If anyone wants to know more, you can contact me via PM.

I hope you enjoy it and find good images for your work become even more magnificent.

Thank you for your attention.
Dani.

Great sites!
I think using the decal images in contest chops is sort of cheating though.

Hi Dani,Thanks great info, especially for newcomers,it can be like a maze out there.
I like to link back to the ext. sources I'm using, just out of courtesy and appreciation.
flower
Without those sources I'd be hard put to photograph everything myself...

Agree with Anfa in regards to the decals,I never download them, although I'm using a lot of other great textures from CG.

Thank you guys, Anfa, Acire... You're great!

I dont know guys, but i dont think it's unfair to use a pre-cut. Is stock image.

There are newbies who work with artwork from another people.

You know the other reason that made me open this thread?

It is because I saw an entry with an artwork from a contact of mine from Deviantart, was not stock but a paiting (finished artwork).

I don't informed my contact about this, because i consider that was pure lack of information.
I don't informed the newbie too (my bad??), but what would I say? "You can not use it?" Who am I?

So, I hope that the newbies can see this topic too!
