I just found this tutorial on how to make 3D pictures with photoshop. You need the red/blue glasses to view them but I found a pair on ebay for a few dollars. Thought I would share.

Here's one that I made:

Here's a few I did years ago. To get the color wasn't easy. Wink
Put your glasses on and view it as a slideshow. Some didn't work all that well, but was fun.

It's not photoshop but it works. Check out the video and then click the link.

You basically just take any repeating image, copy/paste a new layer in the shape of the 3D part that you want to see.

I tried Stereogram Maker.
http://www.swiftgear.com/stmaker/features.html

You need an AutoCAD (.dxf) file or a DepthMap image to make a stereogram.

Quick test image made with Blender

And Stereogram Maker

I made this one for a contest. A dolphin poking up out of the water was the source. Of course I used a program to make the stereo image, but the photoshop challenge was to turn the dolphin into a specific gradient that simulated 3D. You don't simply turn the image to grayscale. Oh no. If I remember right, black would be space in the distance and white is space in the foreground. It was more of a sculpting technique to recreate the dolphin. I must have gone through a bottle of headache medicine during that project because I had to repeatedly look cock-eyed at rough renderings to see what adjustments needed to be made for hours.

It's not the easiest image to look at, but I had to try something new with some success.

First reply was for Roger1 and than my internet (@ work) just burst into flames. Shocked Cool
Thanks Eepi but I am just an idiot for 3d software. I've heard "Blender" more than once here so I will just have to give it a try sooner or later. If you know any retarded based 3d software that can make depth maps please let me know Wink
And glennhanna, that dolphin looks bloody awesome! Did I understand right that you actually make bitmap and use it in s.maker? Very cool!
