A while back there was a best guitarist thread. I proposed George Benson. Here's a new best guitarist thread. I propose this Australian picker as the best: Tommy Emmanuel. Never heard of him until this evening. Check out his rendition of the Beatles' Day Tripper and Lady Madonna:

Look for his version of the Hendrix classic, Purple Haze.

Damn.

Luis, those were very good. I didn't care much for the trio, but lots of skill is evident. Number 5 and number seven are dead links--apparently not available on this side of the pond. Thanks for sharing.

For more guitar fun, I give you Roy Clark. Yes, the country western player who was a regular on Hee Haw. I came across this random video:

https://youtu.be/QhiKgeJV3k0

Not bad for a country picker. I had no idea.

Wow... I've never heard of him. Thats pretty amazing stuff and it's obvious to me that he's really enjoying it.I watched the Norwegian kid and while he is good with technique and play'n the frets , he just looks bored...like a robot. There is no "umph" to it...ya now...no "feeling" of which, I think ,is a huge part of being a good guitar player. Maybe he will improve with age on that, but...
I would agree on George Benson as one of the greats.

also...this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EfYLovsLFY

Wow, is also the word for Stanley Jordan. Reminds me of Benson. Jordan was apparently trained as a classical pianist. The only piano piece I could find was him in a gimmicky performance playing the guitar and piano simultaneously. I never heard of this guy, either. But I don't get out much.
