I am trying to isolate the wire loop in the latest contest using paths. When I create a path
and select 'convert to selection' my selection includes everything but the area I wanted..
Is there a way to change this behaviour so that when I convert the path to a selction, it
will only include the area enclosed by my path?

Also, is there a way to merge 2 or more paths into 1 path?

Thanks for any help you can shed
Vlad

sure there is always a way Wink

to invert the selection just choose inverse in the selection menu... or press strg+shift i...

merge 2 or more paths is a problem but you can load the selection of 2 or more paths by pressing the shift key and a click on the path in the path palette so you can add a selection with alt you can subtract the path from the other..

i hope you understand that my english is not that good or look for a tutorial there are thousands of them outhere i think... Embarassed

Thanks for your help. I found I was able to convert a path to a selection then save it as an
alpha channel. Then create a second path, convert to selection then shift-control click
the alpha channel to add it to the selection.

Still, I would like it if the conversion from path to selection created a selection of the area
enclosed by the path instead of everything but that area.

4 icons appear at the top of your window (just under menu) when you choose the pen tool to make a path. before you begin your path, make sure the first is selected: (add to path area). Then, draw your path and make selection. See if this works...

Yes indeed it is clearer! Thanks so much Sage. Somehow my path tool was set to subtract
from selection which explains why it was selecting everything but my path.

And of course the answer would come from a Canadian eh.

Vlad: I went to Fanshawe College many many moons ago - is it still there?

Yeah Fanshawe is still there. They've built 3 additions in the past 5 years. You probably
wouldn't recognize it.
