ok heres the thing:
i want to make my jellyfish animation transparent
i made the layers in freehand (don't know if that matters.....)
when i exported the layer to gif it had an option 'include alpha channel'
when i included, the gif was transparent but the quality was really bad

so when i didn't include, the quality was fine but it wasn't transparent Huh..

does anyone knows how to fix this?

Doh!

Female. Right. We did discuss this a while back. I am old and ailing in the head.

Okay. GIF transparency works not by the wonders of ALPHA CHANNEL but by taking one of the 256 Max colours and dedicating it as TRANSPARENT. I don't know free hand. In Photoshop, the PSD file's blank area is assigned a TRANSPARENT value when you choose to save it as a GIF with transparency.

So (guessing away here) 1) see if FreeHand has the ability when saving to GIF to convert the ALPHA to TRANSPARENCY, or if it has a way to assign one of the GIF colours to TRANSPARENCY. 2) save the image in FreeHand (why does that sound SEXY to me?) as a TIFF with ALPHA and bring it into Photoshop (if you have it) and then SAVE FOR WEB and choose the white background to be transparent. In PS 7, (maybe earlier - I forget) CS, and CS2 you can choose a TRANSPARENCY DITHER and that helps minimize those ugly white FUZZIES at the edge of the transparent zone.

I hope this helps, and I shall now go take an extra dose of Viagra so that I might more quickly remember your POWERS AS A WOMAN next time we meet!

By the time code on your posts you got that figured out in 20 minutes. Nice. But sadly you owe me a beer now. Its just the way it is! Why do you think I'm so helpful around here? Razz

P.S. I hope that Starfish and Jellyfish get along, since they will soon be ruling the world together it seems! Wink
