I dont know about anyone else, but I find HUGE signatures extremely annoying. They muck up the topics and its makes some threads extremely difficult to muddle through and around all those gigantic signatures. There seems to be a growing number of them these days...like some sort of contest or something.

...nevermind the bandwidth needed for some of these things...As of this morning, there was one that was 208k. Thats more than contest entries for christ's sake.

It seems to be mostly the guys that do this so I cant figure out if its some sort of over compensation for other things or if they just dont get how annoying they are.

Any chance we could set some limit?
say 600w x 120h? This would keep the forum width from stretching and make some topics much, MUCH easier to get through. Monitoring sig sizes wouldnt take much. The mods can check ones that look to big with a simple right click and checking properties. If a sig is too large, a pm can be sent to the member asking them to reduce it.

For those that feel the need to express themselve in a large way, have some courtesy and put a small version in your sig with a link to the larger version or something.

*edit
Initially, it said 600x200...I meant 600w x 120h. see why I get so confused with large sigs?

Cynn, in this case, I agree...even smaller would be better. Unlike you tho, I have some compassion for my fellow pscers and wouldnt want their creativity squashed more than is necessary Razz

Anfa, thanks mate but it was uneccessary. Not only is there NO limits on sigs right now, I thought yours was pretty close to the height I was suggesting? no?

Splodge, You're good man. Thanks for all your help. Smile

Alex, Im impressed at your undercompensation Very Happy

Dp, nope. not here. Perhaps you're looking for one of those threads in the fun and games forum? Wink

Anyone else wanna weigh in on this?

I think Splodge and DigiPharoah's sig sizes are plenty.......but then again, I have just had text for as long as I can remember....

Maybe I'll load one

I wouldn't mind a toggle in my user settings to just turn them off so I can navigate more easily. I usually uncheck the "attach signature" box when I post a comment - becuase of how much it really annoys me.

Another tack would be to ask JMH to add a "block signatures" option in the "profile" section of the forums. I'd use it.

(Lrossa, what's with all the skank?)

VW, I agree on Splodge's and DP's sigs being just about right.

Lrossa, anything I can do to help. you know me...and you're avatar looks fine. dont worry.

Jasper and Cynn, Id use the ignore sig thing too. This board software does have an add on for that. It would be a nice addition I think.

TheShaman, I have carefully checked my specification and yours does seem to fit within the criteria. You win a stamp of approval...errr...wiseass Very Happy
