I downloaded some crappy add-on zip files from limewire and they messed up the ones I already had.

But I was really just looking for a new program to view and apply fonts (kind of like the filter add-ons do). where can I go to find an add on that will let me preview fonts (like microsoft word) before i pick them?

Depending on which photoshop version you are using this should work - i'll give ya a NEAT TRICK:

Firstly, open a PSD and then select the TYPE tool. Type some stuff and don't worry about font choice yet...

Once you've typed a word or two, use the text tool to hi-light that text (you should see it in reverse colour).

THEN (this is the important part) while leaving the text selected move your coursor up to the TEXT NAME box at the top. Click once and IT should be now in reverse as well (black box, white text). Here's WHERE THE FUN BEGINS!

So you've got the text on the image selected (reversed image) and the text NAME selected at the top? Go to the UP & DOWN ARROW KEYS and go up or down... the name in the TEXT SELECT window should go up and down your font list and AT THE SAME TIME THAT FONT WILL ACTUALLY CHANGE IN THE IMAGE AREA! Weeeee!

I'm not sure how far back this goes, but I know PS-7 has it, as well as CS and CS2. Perhaps some of you keeners can let us know if it works with ver6 or 5.5?

Hope this helps.

You might want to invest in something like ATM, or Suitcase, which are programs that let you manage all the fonts in your computer. You can create sets, turn fonts on or off, and even preview them before using them.

ATM is Adobe Type Manager, which is OK, while Suitcase is winning out for the mac.

I don't know whether this is what you're looking for, but here's a link"

not an add-on but a seperate program, in fact i dont think you'll ever find that add-on unless you buy adobe "font folio" it's as dear as photoshop Confused
font-thing should do every thing you want, sample text, uper/lower case ect.
http://members.ozemail.com.au/~scef/tft.html

The Font Thing is a freeware program for managing TrueType fonts in Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0.

With The Font Thing you can:

Browse installed and uninstalled fonts
Browse fonts in subfolders as a single combined list
View sample text and individual characters in your choice of colours
Change sample text "on the fly" or easily switch between your own standard text samples
View detailed font information
Print font samples
Associate notes with fonts
Install or uninstall any number of fonts at once
Load (and unload) any number of fonts for temporary use
Copy or delete any number of font files at once
Rename font files to avoid file name conflicts
Filter fonts according to their type
Group fonts into collections for easier management
Use multiple font windows simultaneously for easy font comparison and management.

i use it on windows XP
