i've been thinking about getting a tablet for some time now, and was wondering what you guys thought of the Wacom Graphire 4 4x5 tablet... any of you use this product, or any like it, and might have some advice or suggestions on the best one to get..?

I have the two-get it- for what it costs-it's a steal.
works excellent.Play with the pen-pressure settings and you'll have total control.
Unless you got lotsa money, then spend the two or three grand on a really good one.

I don't use my tablet much, but when I do it is TOTALLY worth the $$ spent on it.

I keep it in front of me so I can grab the stylos when ever I need it - do my thing with it - then get back to the mouse... zero workflow interuption.

Some people here prefer stylus over mouse, but most people I know use a combination of the two depending on the job at hand.

Now I must go eat some cheese - excuse me! Arrow

cool, it sucks tho, cause sitting in front of me i have a CAlcomp 12x12 digitizer tablet. .. sadly i don't have a stylus for it, only a puck, cause my dad used to use it for drafting back in the day... and evern sadder, it seems that calcomp went out of buisness and you can't get stuff for it anymore... Sad

Scion has some good advice re the tablet especially compatability with windows.. I purchased a small tablet last Christmas and wacom didn't have the proper drivers compatabile withXP. I don't think I was able to download same until Easter. Stylus would work but could not see the tablet properties to make adjustments. For me it works better in Painter then Photoshop.

I dunno from what your saying why it would work with one program and not the other,at the risk of sounding dumb ( HA!!Like right? ) did
you go in "Brush propertys" and choose "pen pressure"?

I didn't say it worked with one and not the other I said I preferred to work the pen in Painter. I also said that when I installed the tablet Windows XP would not recognize it so I could not change the properties. The pen worked only with the default settings.Three months later new drivers were available and it then worked fine.Let's not go anywhere with the dumb thing!

i prefer caplets, they are easier to swallow

all kidding aside, tablets are very good to use. I have one, but i never bothered using it much because I didn't have one at work and i got used to not using it. my new computer is usb and I don't feel like shelling out the money for an adapter since I haven't used the tablet in over 5 years.
