I recieved a request from a client one time who had this Black and white image of a model.

They wanted a color version of it. This is what I did.

I have looked online many times and have never liked any colorizing tutorials that I have seen.I was wondering what the PSC crew could do with a random black and white.
I found this online.

Give it a shot and please share your methods. Very Happy
Yes I did colorize it and I will send a layered file to anyone who wants it. (about 100 layers) When I started I had no idea how to begin. That is why it has so many layers. Trial and error. Now I can do it in about 10 layers.

That's a fantastic colorization, Rey!

Let's see some tries at colorizing the second pic.

I colorized the man diving in this entry (he was originally b/w), but that's nowhere near your model colorization...

The way I found tutorials on colorizing is; In google I typed,
"colorize image tutorials" and wow! many came up, you just have to go through them and find the ones you like" happy chopping Cool

The picture below is done by changing the mode to CMYK, then cutting out the different parts of the picture and coloring them with a Curves adjustment layer.

My try:

I selected areas and modified them with levels in R, G, B channels.

Doesn't look natural though. I would like to see your layered file Rey, the model colorisation you did is fantastic.

First let me say that all these entries look great. But......They all still have that fake look to them. Some have a bronze fleshtone. They all have an alien feel to them. Others glow. They look just like all the tutorials that I have seen in the past. They look nice but if I was to see them and not know about this thread I would say "oh, what a nice colorized image." I'm looking for a way that nobody can tell that it was colorized. Do you see what I mean? Am I making sense? Thank you for the entries. Please don't stop. Also please don't take anything personal. This is not an easy thing to do.
Thanks to all.
Keep on choppin'

You're right Rey, I couldn't make it look real whatever I tried. I'll try another one when I'll have some time, you got me hooked, I think I might have an idea.. But I also want to work on a hot chick, thought exactly the same what MA said Wink
