Welcome 2006. Ah, a brand new year to start afresh. Also, a good time to cleanse the soul and weary chop-induced mind. Thought this would give everyone a chance to name their pet peeves at PSC. Maybe this will help others and maybe not. This is not intended to become a debate or argument or anything other than stating what irks you most. Go on then, be honest and get it off your chest...

1. People who autograph their artwork. Should we all start placing our names on our stuff? Personally, I find it distracting.

2. People who don't use their votes. Sometimes there may not be 25 entries you deem entitled to your vote, but it might be possible to find at least 12? Recent contest has 47 entries and only 613 votes cast. Many of those 613 votes come from members who didn't enter that contest.

um. that's all I can think of for now...

Most artists autograph their work, and I consider this a form of art, so I don't mind see the autographs. I've only used all my votes in one contest so far, but I usually use around 20 votes.

My Pet Peeves:

#1: People that use all their votes on day #1. Give some of the non-advantage members a chance to get entries in, guys. I know I don't even start voting until the second day.

#2: Pencil sketch entries... we all know how to use filters...

PSC-Peeves:
1. Using aliases to play mind games in the forums.
2. Not getting constructive criticism on chops
3. Having to click "Back to entry" after making a comment so that I can use the "next entry" link.

Regular-Peeves:
1. People who take more than 10 items to the express lane
2. Sandwich bread that isnt' soft
3. Not getting laid enough (thanks to Brianna for bringing that to mind).

yeah, you're right, what the hell is the term "pet peeve" derived from, anyways?

The meaning is a personal annoyance. "Pet" as in subjectively specific to a person, not a widely-held social convention. "Peeve" as in something which upsets someone very mildly. Scratching in public might be a pet peeve, warfare would not.

Don't have a clue as to origin, but I'm from the Midwest (U.S.) and they have more than their fair share of colloquialisms. Now if I can just figure out what a colloquiallism is!

When I forget to save my work as I go along...get to the end...dont like it...and can only go back 25 layers...when I need 125 to get back to where I want.

Oh and Site Modes who over use the laughing Icon.

- people who post patriotic stuff, and get votes for
- out-of-bounds-shadows-entries, 'cause they are just cheap
- people who cry that the quality of the entries is sooo poor in general, but dont post own entries at all
- entries which show babies, and get votes for
- the butt-kissing which happens on certain places in PSC, and the fact, that you will always get fewer votes for even better work when you dont kiss some
- that the mods once banned one of my entries, which showed a suicide-scene, and that there are more brutal and bloody pics accepted now (maybe I kissed the wrong butt before ...)

and so on, and so on ...

but its still a great place here! Very Happy

How can a suicide scene get banned HERE? Did someone get so morose over not coming up with a good chop they offed themself?

--I agree with you about baby pictures.
--I've come to the conclusion that most people here have a thing for "manass" therefore are incited to kiss it repeatedly.

Laughing

--People who pick apart an entry then vote for it anyway. Either skip to the next one or pm your suggestions on making it better, and if it's made better and you like it, vote for it.

--People who state in the author's notes, "Well, I just didn't have time to do a decent job" and then post it anyway. Rolling Eyes

Ooh, the complain-game. Love it!

1.People who shove really hard to get onto the subway car before me when the doors open up. What happened to general politeness? There's room on the train for all of us.
2. My son's peers...raising a kid up is hard enough without kids at his school carrying around knives, porno, and swearing like sailors. Recently, two sixth graders got caught straight-up fornicating in the school library.
3. Apathetic school employees who are aware of #2, and just say, "That's just kids."
4. Tourists who go to Ground Zero and pose for pictures, and they're smiling and laughing. Once I even saw a girl posing in front of Ground Zero, and she was making a thumbs-up. What the heck!
5. People who use a number greater than 100 followed by the word "percent."

Whoo, I could go on and on and on. Ordering a well-done burger and it's raw inside. Telemarketers who say "I'm not trying to sell you anything" and then try to sell me something. Dick Cheney. People with B.O. People who spit on the floor of the train car. Tobacco withdrawal. Having to pay $50 for a decent bra. People who don't clean up their dog's poop off the ground. Itchy shirt tags against the back of my neck. My next-door neighbor who always slams his door really loud in the middle of the night. Realizing that something I bought at the store is past the expiration date. Running out of coffee. My cat's treatment of this one chair I paid a lot of money for. Sea Monkeys--the big lie. Rap/reggae fusion music...just makes me wanna punch someone. Speaking of rap, these new punks still trying to live off Biggie when he's been in the ground a decade. The phrase "fresh frozen." The New York Post--I wouldn't line a birdcage with that rag.

Hands up if you think Tiffly needs to get out of the city for a few days...

Well, I will say that if anyone starts a thread called "What tickles you?" I'll have just as many things to say. So it's not all gloom and doom over here...but that did feel kind of good.

Mine
1) when I vote for an image, and it changes so drastically that its not even close to what I had originally voted for, sure you want to tweak an image, thats fine, but changing it entirely is a different matter, Thus the reason they allow 2 entries here....

2) also saying... "I slapped this together in 5min" geez dont tell us that, even if I liked it, unless its outstanding, I'm not gonna vote for it.

I'm sure more will come to me later

as for IRL most are driving related

1) People who have to speed up to get infront of you, just to make a turn across oncoming traffic, thus making me wait when I could have been long gone.

2) slowing down on the onramp as you are getting on the freeway.... Its called merging people, learn it!

3) not using the proper form of the word Their or They're
Their: relating to them or themselves especially as possessors ie. their furniture
They're : they are

ahhh I feel better now thanks Eve Very Happy
