I read this someplace since I am a big fan of vinyl. It said to restore a scratch in a vinyl record to apply toothpaste and rub gently not too hard to rub the paste out or to rub in a new scratch but that it would set into the scratches.

I have personally washed my vinyls in dishwashing soap and applied a thin surface of rubbing alcohol which cleans the dust and restores the record to almost new.

Any of you collect or have vinyl this does work not sure about the toothpaste. vinyl rules and lasts way longer than cd's . I admit though that a stack of vinyl's weighs tons more and is harder to store than a rack of cd's but the audio quality and the preservation is worth it. I wish more music was placed on vinyl now. Surely they would find a way to have us burn our important stuff onto vinyl's in this day and age if vinyl was still the preferred mode of music.

Somebody invent a portable vinl home burning system and make a mint.!
