Hey! Monday is the day! Baahhh! Nothing special! Only... Please, dont vote for a jerk like Stephen Harper.
This guy's dream is to make our country an ultra-conservative socially retarted area.
From here in Québec, he's SO FAR from our reality.
Voting Liberals is not good. Voting Conservative Party is worst!
Today, the real thing is that we cant vote for somebody, we have to vote against somebody... or not voting at all, staying at home and playing on PSC!
Here 3 interesting articles:

Unfortunately, you`re absolutely right.

If the Liberals get in, they will think that they can get away with anything in the future, because we will have let them get away with crap. Not voting Liberal will undoubtedly put the PC in power. (Although in Quebec, the Bloc will most likely get elected.) Confused

Maybe if we had more votes? Maybe if the candidates were anonymous? Maybe if after 2 years in power, we had another vote, this one assessing whether or not the PM is doing a good job so far. If he (when I say he, I mean he/she) is, he can stay, if not, we hold a public lynching. I bet this would get these clowns to think twice about running. (No offence to clowns.)

Bah...I start a new job next week. I`ll concentrate on that. Very Happy

I'm with Sage, I think we should have 25 votes each, but then again, that would make it so that people vote for their friends, not only for the most deserving. Rolling Eyes

What was the subject? Oh, yes, we have to vote for the least evil, of course, that's what politic is all about. And you better vote for the lesser evil, because if you don't the consequences will be bad, bad, bad.

The problem is with the polls, they should be illegal; if people thought the less popular parties stood a chance, then they wouldn't try to 'make their vote count' and then maybe the lesser known parties would get elected.

I'm glad to see that the USA isn't the only country that is having a hard time finding good candidates for office.

Why is it always a vote for the lesser of two evils lately?

Actually, in Canada, we've got about 4 evils. Confused

Michel: I agree about the polls. They are more harmful than useful.

poor canadians. to have the choice between ultra-conservatives (= slaves of tiny brains) and NEO-liberals (= slaves of the money and economy) is really terrible. is there a third party (like greens) you could vote in canada?

Nope, that's happening pretty much everywhere these days.

Try spotting the difference between the Tories (Conservatives), New (so-called) "Labour" and the Liberal Democrats in this country too!

The Lib Dems were the only party not to have a smooth and slimy creep who was all surface "style" and no substance - until recently when they booted him out cos he was an alchy... Confused Now there's a sex-scandal over one of the candidates seeing a "rent-boy" and he's had to step down...

It looks like that party is going the same way as the Conservatives did about 15 years ago when they launched a "Back To Basics" moral campaign - then promptly lost umpteen MPs who had to resign over financial "irregularities", visiting prositutes, homosexual affairs, perjury in court, etc, etc... Rolling Eyes

Strange to see someone say that liberal = slave to money and the economy though? Here it's always been the other way round - putting it crudely:
Conservatives = obsessed with money, economy and big business but sod social programmes and the poor;
Labour = less concerned about budget deficits, tax cuts and the like, more likely to support unions, social programmes, public services and welfare.
Although since Tony B Liar took over so-called "Labour", it's more like the old Conservative party. And since the Tory Thatcher years, hardly anyone is a traditional British-style Socialist anymore, sadly. (Note for US readers: British Socialism was NOT the same as Communism. Although the extreme end of the movement did support the Communists during the Cold War, but they were always a fringe minority.)

There is a Green Party in Canada, but it will not get elected, may not even get 1 member. Canada has become polarized East/West, a bit similar to the US which I believe is North/South. I agree that poles should not be allowed as it creates a self fulfilling prophecy.

It's funny that the tags for parties are seldom what they stand for. realistically they should be named the Thieves in Power and the Theives waiting for Power. With no disrespect for the Yello Piggy all they want to do is get to the trough.

Most Canadians don't even have a clue as to how deep the corruption in the Federal Government went. Ignorance is bliss. I would never tell others how to vote but I can relate to you something that I know first hand that did not come out in the recent Gomery Inquiry. The scandal came to light because a career employee was promised an Order of Canada and did not get it so he squealed. Even if they do something right it is for the wrong reason.
