I was thinking about how a post can be so good, but because it goes up against someone with an even better post, the person with the good post is out. While in other competitions, there are two real crappy entries going against each other and one of them gets to stay in the tournament.

Not sure if this will work, but here's a concept to ponder:

Each round of the tournament runs like a normal daily contest.

Whatever place you get will give you a certain amount of points. So if there are 64 members in the contest, then first place gets 64 points, second place gets 63 points, and so on until the person in last place gets 1 point (assuming all members post).

Any "no shows" will get 0 points, so if 4 people are no shows, then the person in last place that did post will get 5 points. So "no shows" will still basically kill a member's chances of winning the tournament, because they will throw away so many votes from that round.

Also, this way all 64 members get to have fun and go to the end of the tournament and the person with the most collective points wins the tournament.

Just an idea.

Cool Idea, wasnt that sort of the concept for the team chops? that worked out well I thought. Tournament would still be anonymous though i'd hope, that way its more fair. although I was able to pick out certain choppers styles even with them being anonymous. but I really liked not seeing who was who until voting was over.

:runs while screaming: would love to see anonymous entries on regular contests :and hides under desk:

EDIT: But I did like the head to head, and I dont think that should change... maybe just another kind of tourny? cant have too many IMPO

Wouldn't be a Head to Head, though, would it?

That's not necessarily a bad thing--it'd be fun to have more tournaments. Smile

Would you seed the pairings, lowest against highest and so on, like they do in sports?

Im sorta with Cynn...part of the appealing part of the tournament (for me...and should be for you Wink ) is the Head to Head style. If we make it more like the daily contests, it loses some of its appeal...IMO.

You will lose competition with no shows in no time. Someone mentioned the teamchop. It worked well but the team that jumped to an early lead couldnt be caught. I think this could happen in your format, Chopper, and many on the bottom will drop out do to lack of interest or hope.

All it would take is 5 or 6 choppers to bounce around 1-3 place and all hope would be lost for the rest of us. In order to win your style of contest, everyone would need to chop with the same expertise and idea in each of the rounds in order to stay competitive. This wont happen.

Good point, Showcase. Yeah, it was an idea, but I agree, the real entertainment value of the tournament is in seeing two choppers that you like (or dislike), take each other on.

I think part of the fun of the H2H IS the fact that someone who you may not ever expect to make it very far, has the opportunity to in this format, just as some who you think might win, get knocked out early.

That's what's fun.

Oh, and my own public humiliation every time we have one of these. That's fun too. Laughing
