Can anyone translate into German for me? I'm having a hell of a time trying to communicate. Here's what I need to say:

"A token coin is any coin not minted by the Government Treasury. In the United States, you can get tokens in a variety of places. Some cities produce special coins for use on mass-transit sytems, gambling casinos make coins that have the name of the casino, sometimes businesses will have special coins made that can be exchanged for goods or services from that business. Most token coins are used for advertising or promotion of an event or business. Strictly speaking, the tokens I collect have three things in common: they are made from some kind of metal, they are NOT sponsored or minted by the Government treasury, and they technically have 'no cash value,' and are not official currency of that region. The coin I sent you came from New Orleans, and is an example of one kind of token. Do you have anything like that in Germany?"

Feel free to paraphrase, but that's the idea I'm trying to get across. I did a smallish good deed for someone in Germania, and he has asked if he can do anything in return, but he doesn't understand what I mean when I say "token."

Any help would be muchly appreciated. Thanking you in advance. Confused

Hast du etwas ähnliches in Deutschland?

I'm sure it's full of grammatical errors but it's translated anyway. Confused

Don't trust the translaters. Wait for an actual German speaker to come along.

Allow me to answer: yes, they have too! Laughing

Thanks to you both! For the laughs and the translations! Maybe I'll get something good! I don't even know if they have token coins over there.

I'll keep you posted as to his response--thanks again.

Just now realizing how funny Wett is.

And I never knew about that translater thing! I've been having it translate English into Canadian all morning, and what a hoot. I needs an "ebonics to English" button.
