Today's image brings to the fore something I've been wondering about. At least in PS CS. The shear filter. When shaping an image(i.e. the baby pic) to fit the bottles It seems the shear filter only works in one dimension(horizontal) so you have to rotate the layer, shear, and rotate back to get a vertical shear or warp to fit the bottle.
Am I missing something and/or is there a better way to do this? I think that CS2 has some new functions to handle this, no?

I wrap bottles and packages every day. The new Warp tool is awesome! You still have to use it with a combination Spherize (horizontal only) and or liquify to really nail it. Before the Warp tool, I used a combination of the shear tool (yes you have to rotate it) in a combination with the other two tools. (spherize and liquify)

ReyRey has given you folks who have a DEEP AND BURNING DESIRE to experience the SHEAR TOOL a great tip - rotate your source if you have to, do the dirty work, rotate it back. Not the best, but better than actually printing out a flat version of your label and then gluing it to a pop bottle then photographing it and bringing it back into Photoshop.

Not that I'VE ever done that! Embarassed

That is a perfectly acceptable way to do it Rein. As a matter of fact, I usually do that for reference when I am wrapping it. I will photograph a printed label taped onto the bottle and use this image as reference so I know that it is wrapped correctly. I wrap illustrator art or the original file over the bottles. A print that is photographed will never look as clean and focased as vector or the original file. Print also has dot in it which makes color correction a pain in the ass if you photograph it. Also, if you want a wet look water dropplets on a proof or print changes the colors and magnifies the dot making it even fuzzier. If your only going to use it small and not for print then absolutely, print it, wrap it, photograph it, and then tweak it in PS.
