Tofu! That looks BLOTCHY as HELL!
Or is that how he looks?
Well he is a teenager so yeah he's kinda blotchy.
Michel: That's great! 9/10. I love comic book illustration.
Armo: I totally agree with you. I just wanted to highlite that there are tools available, that some might not know about, that can make it look like the artist did a ton of work when they actually didn't do much of anything. The tool has many settings which allow you to control how blotchy the final image turns out to be.
I kept the defaults (not the numbers shown above though) and got the end results I posted. With experimenting I'm sure I could reduce the effects even more.
One of the biggest downsides of using the tool is that all the vectors are on the same plane. They are not layered at all but rather like jigsaw puzzle pieces.
That being said I do think that is does make a great learning tool. For someone just starting into vector work it's neat to see how an image can be made from vectors. You can see how to identify where to put shade changes, shapes, etc. Then you can use that resulting image as a reference point to recreate on your own.
At some point I may take the image and try to make my own version of it "the old fashion way".
