There's three Shaman.
There are others.

Scion, the starting image source was so changed and textured, I wasnt sure. I'm a hack...you know this. I saw the psd and I either missed the beach/sky/water layers or they are so drastically changed that they arent recognizable anymore. Thats all.

OK OK I stand corrected then show... my apologies, I must have missed those comments...
I still think you should have just left it at kudos and saying you were wrong though.... but I digress.

I know that about you Scion...

Also, to my last point...it wasnt that you didnt use the starting image. It was more that the techniques you used could have been used on any starting image and result in an equally impressive image with only a small portion of the starting image being recognized. thats all.

Seriously, look at the two and other than the flowers and the color pattern on the girl, what can be seen from the original? Maybe...if you squint and stretch it a bit, the sand and water can be seen...but it doesnt even resemble the original anymore. THAT is my lame point. thats all.

LOL, I'm glad we agree about most of it, but trust me...
very few sources are any good at all for something like that---
If it were just a patterned source overlayed on
a girl-I'd agree with you 10000%.
I know how you're so into images, after all this site is all about imagery.
Sometimes a chop is simple, and by it's simplicity it hits perfection, sometimes it's the opposite.

OK...so wait...Isn't the whole objective here to take the source and manipulate it...regardless of the final outcome???

If he took the 2 paddles and made a car out of them, is that any more or less valid than what he did with the original source?

All too often these days, people are getting lazy, just taking the source image and throwing in a couple of googled images and calling it a chop...

At least he had an Original Thought about the whole thing.

Sheesh.

(Now, go ahead...quote away.)

When the starting image is not part of the final result or is such a small portion of the result then no. A measure I use is to remove the parts of a result that are EASILY seen to be from the starting image. If I do that and the image still maintains its masterfulness, then no, the final result isn't that great of a manipulation of a given image.

maybe.

Thats the challenge...start with something and make it different. Dont just create a couple cars...add something more...

no one ever questioned his originality.
