Photoshop Contest Forum Index - Ask the Experts - Remote flash not working - Reply to topic

Got a little problem.

My father is following a course in photography. He owns a Sony DSC-R1.... Yesterday they had a first time setup in a studio.

Ok here's the problem. They needed to put up a transmitter on his flash. So remote flashes would be activated. Problem is the thing doesn't work. All tough it does work with other camera's (from the other students). His teacher couldn't figure out the problem, as he owns a Sony too and was faced with the same problem.

Maybe some of you have heard of this problem and know a solution?

ps: forgive me for the noob terms in here, but I know squat about photography, let alone translate it to proper english.

If anyone knows please let me know asap. He's having a class tomorrow with a model, so he would really like to see this problem solved...

Continuing the search on the internet too...

The R1 will not support slave flash units.

Thanks for the info, mailed it to my dad. Now it's his problem Smile

Anyway, he'll be using a different camera.
Seems like the connection pins are configured differently then with most standard camera's. That might cause the problem (as in snot supporting slave flash units)

Huh. Imagine that. Sony did something proprietary that went against the norm that everyone else follows. Who'da thunk it. </sarcasm>
