ahhh yes grasshopper.... but as the old saying goes...

a picture is worth a thousand words.

so most times it should tell a story.

but you are correct too in saying 'chop what you want'. You def. have to be happy with what you do. ...but if you can tell a story or come up with something original... you'll be contending for a win here Wink

btw your new avatar rocks!

I agree a picture is worth a thousand words Smile However, It doesn't always have to be that way though.

I refuse to conform to the members of this sites standards in order to get a "contending win", it's an unaccomplished feeling when you do something that conforms you into standards and originality doesn't always count (unfortunately) Razz I feel so liberated, lol.

Thanks, I found it on the net somewhere and I loved it Smile

I hear ya... I chop the way I like too, but it just so happens that a lot of people also like the way I chop Wink

I'm not asking anyone to 'conform' to a certain mold. just be aware of certain things when going about a chop is what I was getting at.

All I'm sayin' is that people tend to just add one thing to the source and call it a chop. All I'm sayin' is...if yer gonna enter a contest, above all be original but PLEASE do SOMETHING to the source image.

Case in point:

Originality...reworked the source...Cool chop.

I agree with you all around. I always thought when they did that (the one thing in a chop) was because they haven't developed skills in PS yet Huh..

Can I have an opinion without anyone running to the mods?
Ok, noone freak out..I'm just saying..
I was just saying last night , to this really pretty girl who
is also intelligent in a not too Mia farrow kind of way, how as I have always been pro-cliche,
because anti-cliche is so hard on people in the learning stage,
and some cliches are worth seeing done by an accomplished artist, but I think it would be a really cool experiment to see
everyone have to go by the w1k cliche rules for a week.
Indeed, a challenge I would join in.

I've never been there.. heard too many bad things about the place.. (w1k that is) Cool but if you 'splain yourself... and these rules I'd be willing to try. I'm always up for a challenge.

disqualified entries:

w1k: 8
PSC: 1

any questions? but I prefer this certain Wink on PSC, so I am looking to more horrific entries, maybe some of mine... sometimes I think, w1k is the version of PSC if hitler had won the war.

A very long list of "cliche chops"
w1k now says this..
"#

# Annoying, overused entries (cliches)

* Your entry contains Britney Spears.
* Your entry contains President George W. Bush.
* Your entry contains scantily clad women (i.e. in bikinis) for no practical reason.
* Your entry contains Star Wars references.
* Your entry contains the Statue of Liberty.
* Your entry contains the World Trade Center buildings.
* Your entry contains Adolf Hitler, or Nazi references.
* Your entry contains Osama Bin Laden or terrorist references."
there was once in incredibly huge list of what you could NOT post--I dunno whwere it is now,m
and frankly, w1k has become such a mess, i don't think i could find it.
Embarassed

I will post an entry, where Britney is on a foursome with Bush, Hitler and BinLaden in the penthouse of the WTC, in the background a TV-set in front of a window with view to the statue of liberty. On TV Baywatch-babe Pam is running in slomo across the screen ...
