I know this is a high-speed shot. The shutter was probably triggered by a sound or laser. But how'd they get the swirling colors? Chopped in? Different viscosity paints?

From the author's notes: macro photo of white paint mixed with water and inkjet printer inks on a clear plastic wrap membrane, vibration from loud sound (says drum works best). First series were done with cream and printer inks.
