For the h2h one is mostly shadow and contrast that lacks a bit.

If you take a look at the rock on the right side of the astronaut, you'll notice it has a dark, sharp shadow. This is missing with the astronaut which has a soft almost unnoticeable shadow.

Contrasting, as said before, would also do many good here. In this stage the colors are rather on a dull edge. You would be surprised how much more vivid an image can look with even a small notch on the contrast slider

The theme was in my eyes nice (i was even afraid a bit for it, as it was original, compared to my entry which was done numerous of times )

For me it was mainly the missing link in the story. Like the little flag, that shows that he has been first man on the mars before he has been killed by a bloody sandstorm. I tried to use the reflection to show what came over him (ok, ok I tried ;-P).

Adding real light and shadow to the astronaut whould have changed the whole image, so that I just reduced the shadow of the perfidious little stone at the right

How does one tell which stone is the perfidious stone?

shout its name, it answers to the cry of 'Little Dave'

Give him a shout, see which rock looks around, easy
