What determines if a topic is locked or not?

The reason why I ask is because I see that Choppers latest topic was locked out.

Moderators can lock and unlock topics. Locked topic means that you cannot post any more replies to the specific topic until it is unlocked again.
Topics can be locked to prevent "spam" replies and/or garbage talk on a serious subject, or if the discussion is over and there is no need to reply anymore (eg. youre selling your cellular through a forum and you lock a topic (only if site admin gains privileges to a regular member to lock/unlock their own topics) once its sold so nobody can reply anymore)

Topics get locked and somtimes deleted.


Depends on the content.

Its never political but more of forum regulations...6 out of ten times a thread is removed due to the owners volition, but occasionally things may get removed for other reasons.

Usually the mod get last say in any topic even if the discussion is clearly far from over they can force the topic to close as usually the discussion is not over between two people and there is private messaging for that kind of thing.

And then there is that rare but oh so ever popular, locked for no reason made clear... its a one in ten thing but it always gets me asking questions which also get locked or deleted.

Not that i am a nosey sod but i think people deserve a reason why public access threads get locked.


Hence why you may see the following messages

CLosed due to spam

Closed due to flame....

and so on and so on


Flaming usually takes the form of... well just search my name and you'll probably see some threads which decend into chaos...
