I have 2 alias, maybe 3...but have never used them to vote for myself, or anyone for that matter. I only made them as a joke in the old days of chat. There was a short time when we were just screwing around and added some joke names like ch1cken, d3wking, ED2O9. None were ever used for anything more.

I'll gladly dump whatever alias' I may have left over from years ago.

I dont know the login for them anyway. Wink

the rest came about when JMH decided 30 votes was to many and knoked us all down to 15 votes each, then he decided all contests should be anonimouse, so many .ppl left the site that 15 votes was enough after all, i only have one alias, used him for posting .GIF's, now i use GIFted for looking at the site as a DISADVANTAGED member, like dewking i am old and drink to much, my memory is shot through Smile
I dont know the login for them anyway now Smile

As of right now, the poll has 44 votes in it, and I just want to note that now.... it should give a somewhat fair count since it hasn't been spammed by a lot of aliases yet.
Note the 80% who would like to see something done about aliases...
the strongest vote in one direction we've had in as long as I can remember where part of that 80% is unlikely to be aliases.
polls, images ratings...stuff like that is all all useful, and fun, but has all been totally useless thanks to ..............aliases.
AND SO NOTING that there has been NO polls that aliases havent spammed in goodness knows how long, it's very likely at least SOME of the 20% against any action are multiple votes by one user and probably ALL of that 20% is by aliases.

As far as posting images as an alias--you really don't understand the ranking system.

Well good luck trying to get rid of them... ya just gonna make people mad and more alias are going to pop up. I don't see whats the big deal, people who win are people who deserve to win. There is a big margin between the losers and winners, so even if ya make 10 alias ya going to still lose. I seen many accounts that pop up with really crappy chops, i mean really crappy ones! the ones that looks like they just made them to get 10 chops done in order to vote.

Very Happy

I don't understand your logic, FC. How is not allowing aliases to run the forums and post & vote "illegally" gonna make ppl mad...and cause more aliases to "pop up?" Seems like you're saying one thing, then saying the exact opposite.

Please don't confuse me Confused ...or perhaps enlighten me...

fyi...how would you like to lose a comp due to member(s) who has/have multiple aliases and voted for another post? No, it ain't the end of the world but c'mon...it's not fair...in fact, it's annoying.

There is no way to stop aliases. Confused

Um, yeah there is. It's been done on many other websites, and it will happen here sooner or later. I've already given contact info to Proc to another website admin that runs a site with very nice anti-alias security that makes it not worth the trouble to try and have multiple accounts.

As to your previous comments, you're wrong about aliases not helping a person win. The crappy chops may not win, but very good choppers can get a very nice boost in votes from having multiple accounts. Enough to even help them win. 5-10 "alias" votes on a chop that's up in the top 3 can really make a difference.

I'm just glad to hear that Proc is looking seriously into this.

And I must say, overall, this particular thread has been helpful to us all as we've managed to stay on track with the discussion.

*takes another of his large MED pills*

I'm glad that I could stay focused and have my input viewed here.

And, again I say: OUT WITH THE ALIASES! Long Live Scooter! reindeer
