In my experience here, I think getting to know the people and making a rep for yourself gains more votes than not. Of course, the images play a role, but not as firmly as one might think. Look at every persons vote count when they first started and look at it now, evidence is every where, haha. Shocked

Oh, for God's sake, PICK ME!!!! PICK ME!!!!

I don't mind being a wiseass, and Mr/Ms/Mrs WhimSea was very much against one of my insensitively negative comments in a recent contest. It's got to be me. PICK ME!!!! PICK ME!!!!

Bring yer pitchforks and torches and all the other fairy tale creatures (I've got to ease off the Shrek references.) I like that boulder, that is a NICE boulder... You HAVE the right to remain silent, what you lack is the capacity...

I hate all the twatty comments like "perfect" and "winner"!
Are these people gods? I know myself I'm not capable of creating anything perfect and I don't think any human ever will!
You don't have to believe in gods to get this. Everything that is considered perfect by humans has been beaten over time.

Ooh, that was bad. I think you could have been nicer and directed that person to Rienman's very beautiful and cuddly pen tool tutorial. :p

I can't believe you started a thread about this. Rolling Eyes

That is why we have a RULES section:
http://photoshopcontest.com/faq/help.html

"Q: Can I make negative comments?
A: If you feel that an image was not up to par for whatever reasons, you are free to comment on it. However, if you place negative comments on another's hard work, they better be constructive and as graceful as possible! We will not tolerate abuse of our valued site members. There are many different ability levels here. They are ALL welcome. "

Maybe that's because they have improved since being here?. Wink

Rey speaks the truth. Take a look at how my entries have evolved over the past year. The proof is in the portfolio.
