Actually, I don't gotcha. I see how to edit my original post, but not how to delete the entire thread.

Just edit out the link from the original post. Or blank out the starting comment in the thread. Or have a mod delete the thread.

I looked at your Rorschach and saw two Indians doing something unspeakable. I have to admit it was sexy. And what can I say about a vintage pickup? Sexy, indeed. But damn it, I patched together a naked guy intent on something unspeakable with a flock of sheep, and all I got was a crummy twenty votes! Your theory is kaput. Nonetheless, you are on my Christmas list. Here is your present:

Howdy!

You done good. The thread is fine and doesn't really need to go away... it was just the link to your currently active post that might be contrived as "vote whoring" (though, in my opinion you did not have that in mind and are actually looking for some feedback).

You gotta know, dude(ette), that there is NO logic to votes here (except that when you get popular like Marco, Micose, and Rey² it does become a bit of a popularity contest).

You'll get lots of feedback on that chop of yours, but in the end you will probably be NO closer to knowing how to generate more votes. And that might not even be what you are looking for.

As for me, I decided (back in my starting days here) to do my best at improving my chops firstly, and getting votes secondarily... I know others here that have taken the same route and it has served them in their "artistic" expressions!

The problem with voting is that we tend to actually believe the "voter" knows what he or she is talking about. 75% of the time they just DON'T. My BONUS TWO CENTS is choose a few members here that you respect and PM them when you want support. You'll quickly find who wants to help and who (it is their right for sure) doesn't want to help.

Cool

I can't remember if I voted for it or not, but I do remember not "getting it"... figured it was an inside joke for some.

If I don't vote for someone, it may be for several different reasons, I may not like it, I can't figure out what it is, I like some others better, I'm tired of voting and have left the room, fallen asleep before the end of the contest and woken up after it's over, unplugged the computer due to storms before I finished voting.... you know 34 votes for something is great, I think. I'd like to win a worthy prize, but any votes I get are fun, comments are good especially funny comments. I try to leave comments, unless I'm just exhausted or can't figure out what to say.

and you know I've not voted for Marco and Micose sometimes too... you're not singled out.

WhimSea..note the date TWK posted.

I'm using this forum to present an idea about "critiques"...how to give them and how to accept them. Seemed better than starting another thread.

Don't you get tired of seeing "Cool" and "Well done" on posts?

Interesting idea...

well, like I said I try to make some sort of comment... sometimes they're long and humorous (see my comments on Granulated and Tadams Carl's entries.... but sometimes I just do "cool" - could do "knarly" i guess Smile

note to self: don't tell eve her entries are cool! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

thanks, WhimSea.

I toss more images than I post. Maybe if there was a "forum" to get some help with making them the best they can be, I'd post more often. And I like their tips on giving and receiving critiques.

Eve: Thanks for the interesting links. Using the outline in #2 as a guide for detailed critiques is a great idea, but I don't know that many would participate. WhimSea's comments above sound familiar to me. While I'd love to get detailed critiques of my entries, I don't think I could find the time to critque more than one or two a week. Frankly, I don't think many people would care to spend much time critiquing. Can't say I would blame them.

Perhaps a pool of critique volunteers could be asembled, to match a pool of critique seekers. Lots of ways this could work so it wouldn't be onerous--one critique given and received per month, maybe. Organizing and maintaining such a system could be a major pain, though

one of their members summed it up nicely...

Great idea and in the best of intentions... BUT.. allow me a few doubts as how sparks and thunder will be avoided.. expect to be really busy and it will be fun to watch and participate for as long as it lasts! Smile
If everybody plays by the rules though.. it will be a fantastic constructive addition to the site.. fingers crossed! Smile

and that is not a "contest" site so pre-posting to get suggestions will not work. Maybe a post mortum would?

I like that PSC is a learning site; lately it seems more of a practice site with little direction to improve good ideas, techniques, experiments, etc.
