ok i have a pretty detailed picture and i was wondering the easiest way to change the current backround ( a tan collor) to white. i tried using the magnetic laso, but the image is really deatialed. and then i tried putting it in a new layer and fadding it into the backround, but then the objects in the image become to faded and you cant see them... help! lol

WhatEVER you do...do NOT use the magic lasso.

The magic lasso...seen here is EVIL and should be avoided at all costs!

The pen is a nice option.

Layer masks work wonders!

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo the magnetic lasso is the spooge of satan, avoid like a rabid dog.

Like Stevey boy above says, pen tool and layer masks are the answer, you can also use the polygon lasso if you are prepared to take your time and not click like a rampent rabbit and make all the edges look like the elephant mans head (jaggedy and unbelievably ugly that is) sorry Mr Merrick, but you can't sugar coat that one

Photoshop CS3 has a new tool called Quick Selection.

It works 100% better than the magic wand tool.

After making your selection with the quick selection tool, you can tweak your selection by using the refine dialog box.

This might work - try it. Seriously.
