I'm embarrassed to be part of the human race when I hear there's an all-white painting worth 3 million dollars.

It is sad that her lipstick enhanced that bit of art but the fact of the matter that she was an artist and did that just floored me.. I could see some drunk doing it but an artist?

Maybe they will put that art behind glass now, what's worse is the Monet that was punched.

I totally agree with what your saying manic...especially from a fellow artist that I'm sure would be devastated if the same happened to her BUT unfortunately I get mixed feelings with this because of what the painting is and by all means I am no artist but have a hard time like badcop mentioned that something of that nature actually has a price tag on it that should not be any higher than the cost of the paint and canvas. I have never understood some paintings of that type nature and how a price of that height could come about from it. Would love to get some history on that. I know it's the artist alot of times but.....
Do you know the specialty of this painting besides being all white? I can't see it up close so there may be some special technique in it that is not obvious to someone like me with no artistic talent or history.

Thanks Anna....reading the story I find that pretty cool. Unfortunately I'm one that has to see the painting and see the story or be able to come up with a story in my own mind and if I didn't read that I wouldn't have got the depth of that painting. It is pretty cool when you put the story with the painting though. The history of what that wall held.

(i didnt know Cy Tombly did a white painting...too...hes known for a very particular style of painting, that i dig a lot.didnt know he felt the "obligation", like all the others to make his own white canvas, was very "hype" in the 60's...)
