I'm kinda with badCOP on this one. It is no reflection on the artist - just on people who would fork over close to 3 million dollars for this "work" while so much of the world could use that money for (in my opinion) much more socially "useful" applications.

And then to tie up court time and media time fussing about it is yet more waste of human energy that could be better used (in my opinion) elsewhere.

Hmmpph....

Huh..

That is what most of us are here on this site. Just a bunch of superficial guys who try to bump their ego..

Did anyone read the artist statement then debate his views and vision of what art is?

No.

Most of us don't understand abstract expressionism not cubism, even surrealism.

Who can understand and interpret dreams? they do exist, but most of us don't want to understand them because we are lazy.

Ask Eve about Sam Francis, he is expressionist too. She will tell how wonderful his art is.

Make that wiseass bureaucrat.

Btw, I wasn't jumping to conclusions about the artists--rather, the knuckleheads who buy the things. Very Happy

Reinman... I thought those were match heads on sticks to burn the sulfuric fumes to ward off the evil toxic smell of the art.

And you say it's candy? What is art? Candy or match heads? Very Happy
