Im working on creating a template for some company labels in word and need some help setting one up...

The labels I have are 4 on a sheet (landscaped 2x2), sized 4"h x 5"w each.

There is a small space at the top and bottom of the page, about 1/5" and .5" on the left and right sides.

There is no space between the two rows or columns.

Thats pretty much the easy part. I could get that down... here's the problem:

There is a logo pre-printed on the labels, so the actual type area couldn't start until below approx 1.5" down the label.

So Im having trouble figuring out how to create a table that takes up ONLY the area below the logo, within the labels. I can make the full label table, and split it, but it still lets you print in the top part where the logo will be.

Another issue (but may be just because of the way Im doing it), is that its creating a new blank page when I try to get the tables to fit on one page. I can't have a second blank page, otherwise they'll all print out and will waste a page each time it prints.

Anyway... im rambling... anyone have any experience in creating tables/templates in word?????

HELP!!

At a previous employer, I used software from Avery. It looks like you can get free Word templates from them here... http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Templates-%26-Software/Templates ...assuming that you aren't using one already.

I just remembered, I think the templates will let you print on different lines on the label but you can't prevent a certain area from being typed in.

In your table, can you insert a blank picture in the cell where the logo is so that it's full and can't be typed in?

As far as the blank page goes, have you tried going the the bottom of the page you want to keep and deleting any possible blank spaces that may be carrying over to, and therefore causing, the new blank page?

Yeah I tried that, but the problem there is that I can't get them to be modified enough so that I can shrink them down to not include the logo area.

(these are the labels - not exactly to scale):

I believe you are using a mail merge in word. If you have access to MS Publisher you can create your own template and then print with mail merge. I will try it and let you know.

You can use any data base, even Outlook lists or create your own. Then you design the template to fit your label and follow the mail merge Wizard.
