One of the variations will actually be like your sample. I'll take the line drawing of a kitchen and blend it with the kitchen that was actually built from that drawing.
Drawing for real is my last resort for a couple reasons. First is I can't draw that good. Second (and probably more important) is time. I'm making at least three variations of the graphic and won't have time to draw & scan each one. Especially if I screw up the sketches too much (a given knowing me). It's actually faster, for me at least, to pull it into Photoshop and tweak it rather than do it from scratch. I may even add touches to the napkin like the coffee ring, smudges, etc. (bit like Rey's chop mentioned earlier).
On a side note.... MAN I LOVE GETTING PAID TO PLAY WITH PHOTOSHOP! WOO-HOO!
My immediate supervisor/boss literally told me that I could work on the pics as often as I could work it into my other duties as he really liked the concept and thought the company owners would too.
