This is called foreshadowing people. Last page of first chapter. If you had read the forward you would understand what's going on. Without the forward , even though this is it's own tale, you can't really put the characters in their places. This is helpful because? Because the forward gives a summary of the earlier several books which starred the same lead character, who is continued in the same roll. This is just another adventure for our accidental hero.

not to sound rude but can you put that in layman's terms? it actually sounds kinda cool but i'm not sure if i have the idea right.
