Photoshop Contest Forum Index - Ask the Experts - Save as. WHERE IS gif? - Reply to topic

I just got my first copy of photoshop, I been using gimp for a while but I got some issues with the save as option. For some reason it doesn't show save as gif or any of the others.

How do I get back the gif? and I'm pretty sure there are more missing from that list. Confused

Thanks.

Also is there other ways to pay for advantage? I do not own a credit card or checks and I been itching to try it.

to save a gif you have to save optimized as .if you are using image ready ...and that saves the images in gif.......if you are using cs3..then listen to marty and nogood

Under save for web it usually is preset to jpeg but under there is the choice and under the color box below is the image size option to down size it to it here. Cool

I know it works if you save for web, but before you could go to save as and chose gif... among from other formats that seem to be missing.

Major changes in PS3, I used to use PS1 and had been used to imageready but that is all gone now. Cool

Exclamation

The first time I used cs3 and clicked save as from the drop down menu there was an option to select gif and more file formats, some of them are missing. How do you delete the current profile on cs3?

My guess is that you are not in 8 bits/channel RGB mode...
If you use more than 8bits per channel or CMYK/LAB/etc. color mode GIF will not show as an option under the Save As dialog...
So go to Image->Mode->RGB and Image->Mode->8Bits/Channel and try again.
Hope it helps...
