Multiple accounts, aka aliases, are not allowed. The reason is quite simple, because users are not allowed to vote for themselves using such accounts. In the right hand column, under "image options" there is a "edit this image" link. What kind of image files can I enter? In most contests images must be a JPEG or a GIF file. The size of the file must be under 125kb in actual size. JPEG image dimensions must be less than 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high. Animated GIFs must be less than 550 wide by 450 high. Minimum dimensions for both are 500 width x 350 height. If you are getting an error message, try reducing the file size and/or dimensions just a bit and then uploading again. Upgrade Your Account to a PSC Advantage to break free of these limitations! Why was my entry removed from the contest?Site moderators remove images for various reasons. Some times the image file is broken, other times the image is offensive. You will typically get an e-mail notification with the reason for removal. Why won't my image upload? We have worked to make our uploading tool as flexible as possible, but from time to time there are snags. Be sure that you saved the image in RGB mode and not CMYK. The image also must fit the size and resolution requirements for the contest. If you are having trouble, try saving it so that it is at least 5kb smaller than the maximum allowable size. We will be glad to help, just post in the forums to request assistance. How is a contest winner determined? The winning image of each contest is the one that receives the most votes. If multiple images end up with the same amount of votes, the tie-breaker is which image was created and uploaded first. When an image file is updated while the contest is still open, the entry time is set to the time of the last edit. Editing an image after the contest has ended or just changing the description/notes does not affect the entry time.I've won! How do I get my prize?Congratulations! Can I have it removed? We remove images under certain circumstances such as copyright violation, double entry, and offensive content, etc. Since our scoring system relies on members keeping their submitted images in their portfolio, we can't remove an image simply because it didn't get any votes, or the author doesn't like it. However, don't forget that you can always edit your entry if you are dissatisfied with it. In addition, if you wish to hide your image from the public, you can do so by going to your portfolio and clicking the red "X" above the thumbnail of the image you wish to hide. You can always unhide it later if you wish.Within how many days can a contest prize be claimed? You can claim your prize within 30 days from the date of declaration of the winner. In anonymous contests, you must maintain the anonymity of your entry both on and off site until the contest is over. Your entry itself, its title, and/or its description should not reveal who you are and any links you provide in the description (i.e. a link to your external sources) should also maintain that anonymity. Any comments you make in the contest should follow suit. Additionally, you should not attempt to share entries (for the purpose of securing votes or not) outside of PSC during anonymous contests, as this could reveal your identity to potential voters. Any evidence of an infraction of these rules may lead to the removal of your entry, at the discretion of site admin and moderators. What is a speedchop?Basically it's just another contest, with the difference that advantaged people also have no access to the source until opening time. Everybody is treated equal, just like when this site started.Should I mention my external sources? You should not use an external source that would deceive voters into thinking that you did significant manipulations to the source that you did not do. Entries believed to be in violation of this rule will be removed. Enforcement of this rule is subject to moderator discretion. As a general rule of thumb, if you submit an entry that relies heavily on an external sources in this way, you should post a link to those sources along with your entry.Voting and CommentsHow do I vote? Can I vote for my own entry? There are many different ability levels here. In general, users are banned for behavior that consistently tears down the community rather than build it up. Users are typically given warnings via private messages and the opportunity to correct their behavior prior to being banned from the site. Depending on the behavior and other variables, we reserve the right to ban a user for as long as we deem necessary. What is the PSCore statistic?PSCore is a ranking formula that weights and calculates one's win percentage, rank percentile per post, and votes per post (VPP). It also takes into account the changes in the voting system and site activity over time by comparing one's VPP against a floating average VPP of other users who registered at the same time or later. Please note that only users that have posted at least 10 images are eligible to ensure proper mathematical sampling.Below is the inner workings of how it is done: The Variables:
