big pic is excellent, well done. i would change the water to horizontal (to make it more obvious what it is (it IS water right?)). and i would have more variation in the colour of the wood (a bit of gray here and there perhaps?)

Don't like the water in the background as much as I like the cleanup and new color on the wood. The twig is a nice touch but I think there should be some bark on the log too.

Tofu, pity you don't like the water. But about a bark i also thought (for the logic of it, beginning and stuff) but then it should be covered all over - cleanup, color, source, all gone :- :D
