agreed w/ what tofu said a funny idea and i like the thinking to it an easy fix would to use the bark from the source's tree trunk in place of your brown then it would fall w/ in the rule guidlines. just an idea nun the less welcome to psc ;)

you've used the source as inspiration - for this sort of chop that's enough, so don't worry about trying this sort of thing again. inside of tree should be much darker, & don't rely on emboss for light & shadow on such a complex object :) great idea!
