the shadow is generic and flat. A real object would have different geometry for the shadow, it would also change direction where the floor meets the wall (I assume this is a baseboard in the background)

You are right about the shadow... I had, infact, originally warped the shadow, so it did change direction - but as there isn't a really obvious definition between floor and wall, it looked a bit 'odd'... however, I think what I *should* have done, is..

made the gradient on the shadow a little 'shorter', so maybe the head wasn't so obvious. But, I do completely agree with you - but am not going to change it now (but I'll change it for my own reference)! - thanks for the comments!! :) :)
