Also in response to Claudes comment on the lightning, the lightning I do is indeed how you put it drawn, actually drawn on paper, sketches or sometimes with my tablet. If drawn I scan it in, invert it from my usual graphic pen black...

... then make selection cut outs, add parts from other drawn elements & then dodge & burn parts. Usually setting it in an image with a point 2 blur. then use duplicate layers of blur to get stronger with layer styles that make the glowing effect...

...I have also in the past used indian ink & a sharpe bit of wood or wood nib pencil (pencil with no lead) to move the ink, then edit off the mess when dry & scanned in. The tablet method is straight forward brushes and drawn effect until I am happy...

For the newbies & Photoshop beginners, don't loose your time to draw lightning. There's plenty of choices of good resolution sources on Google. Your draw will not make it better. :)
