I like what you did to extend the fountain down. It's a whole new fountain. The sand pile is a bit too neat; it could use some scattered sand around the edges. Or, if you want it to look "wind swept" just add some scattered sand on the lower right.

i believe this is in Arizona! ha! I agree the sand is too neat - would be grains here and there not so thick and neat on the edges.
pour sugar in a frying pan to see what I mean.

I actually didn't extend the fountain. I cut off the part on the side and adjusted the color levels, brightness, contrast, and saturation to fit the desert scene better. I suppose that made the bottom easier to see.

Yep, I got it. It looks kind of gross if you don't know it's sand. Thanks for the example and suggestion. I avoided a messier pile because I was pretty certain I wouldn't pull it off. That's something I'll have to toy with in my spare time.

Maybe I'll go with a story that the dead person to the right put that pile together, decayed to just bone, and in that time there was no wind, ever. Sounds plausible, right?

I think that the sand just accumulated there as the water went down ...if there was the least bit of wind ...it might blow around again .
