3D is created by blurring foreground and background but not the middle. . . if you were using a zoom lens, both Kevin and the background would be blurred because of the shallow depth-of-field. . . he was originally very sharp.

fox, wouldn't the grass at the dino's feet be a big blur also?

show. . . if you figure out how much distance between the dino's huge jaws and Kevin's head in this perspective, the grass just in front of the dino would still be in focus. . . I made a blurred foreground area in the grass and it looked bad.
