It's all just my opinion so don't take it too serious. First you should flip both figures horizontally since the light came somewhere from top-left direction. You can add some color balance (red and/or magenta), a bit more darkening and a little contrast to the face and the doggy. And i don't think such a huge labrador exists (decrease its size). Maybe a little unsharp mask to the man's face also help. But i like your idea so i give you a vote (partly because i hate when people just writing and giving advices without voting). If you fix everything you should get more votes I suppose. :)
