Is this the cover for National Geographic? This kicks some major "A". The color from the bird and background match more than perfectly.

The discussion below about reflections wins a vote for most bone-headed BS I've read in a long time! Sad, yet hilarious. Good job author!

impossible reflection (shouldn't see the top of the bird) but very nice indeed.ehh, actually the wing and side of bird are at an angle greater than45 degrees and you would see exactly what is in this image, feel free to test it with a mirror laying flat.
j-elzic j-elzic
The angle of the wing relative to the angle of the point of view is what determines the reflection....results of the test are here.... [img] Again, author, very nice, regardless.
ScionShade ScionShade
I did the test real quick and just snapped a shot, I got to see the whole side of bird and learned the author even squezzed thge heighth of the reflected image just like the test shot, so the author has shown an even greater attention to detail than given

Well, I have to say that if Mr Heron was gliding, he maybe could have dragged his wingtip that long without cartwheeling, but seeing he's flapping, he would have just dipped it. The boat wake ruined this for me. Otherwise, it was nicely done.

I love that you guys actually made cut-outs of the bird and conducted reflection tests. There must be something pretty special that you're procrastinating from.
billtvshow billtvshow
The boat wake ruined this for me. Maybe a meteorite hit the lake seconds earlier. ;)
j-elzic j-elzic
The second test shows the same thing as the first...less of the top, more of the bottom. But viewing from a different angle changes the amount. Test 2 also shows the entire wing at the angle of the wingtip in the posted pic. Reflections aren't "squeeze
ScionShade ScionShade
hey, we're off the reflection thing and onto the 'boat wake ' now, keep up will ya??The boat wake is what makes this image so awesome,it's just silly to think it's not a glide and, or that this would cause the poor bird to flip. You guys are crazy. Author
