I agree with all the above sentiments. Losing a pet can be - perhaps surprisingly - painful. My family had a cat for 17 years until she died of a kidney disease.

This picture is a memorial to our family dog “Spud” (A Welsh Corgi) who was with us from the time he was a puppy until it was discovered that he had throat cancer. He died an easy death (surrounded by our family and his favorite treats) in November of 200
