The shadows should be coming off him on an angle not underneath him. Also in most cases the shadow should be sharper near him and blurier away from him. Though I have to give you props for the idea and that "YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!" expression on the dogs face.

Better, however there seems to still be too much shadow and it seems to be going in all directions around the dog, try to keep to an angle and soften the shadow a bit. Also if you can remove the shadow on his back and paws, as it just adds to the floating

agrees with XenoX IMO burn the front of his fur alittle at the breast, it will give it more of soft look to it ;)
