This faux landscape was a lot of fun to do, even though it took me about 4 times as long as I thought it would. Among the landmarks I yoinked from Google Earth are the Walt Whitman Bridge, Dulles Airport, and downtown Indianapolis.

pretty cool look

shadow should be about 25% of what you see there... or that plane is freakin huge. otherwise cool!

Shaman's right. Also the angle of the light suggests moving the shadow up and to the right (basically diagonal from current position). But you added it so here's me vote!

Add a shadow from the glider and you've got me vote.

I had a shadow initially, but yoinked it because I have no idea what a shadow from that altitude would look like. It's back now...what do y'all think?
Trann Trann
That is one big glider! From that height, you wouldn't see it (consider each coloured patch of field is probably 20 acres on average)
TheShaman TheShaman
listen to Trann.. if theres a shadow to be cast it should be about the size of 1 of those squares
BombasticBrian BombasticBrian
Okay, so after reading your comments and thinking about it myself for a bit, I think that the shadow should be smaller than it was, but still much much larger than the actual footprint of the glider... This seems a good bit more realistic, methinks.
TheShaman TheShaman
much better BB much.
TofuTheGreat TofuTheGreat
I agree with you on the shadow BB. The shadow would be huge from that height. Anyone doing shadow puppets would know that the shadow should be large on the ground. Making it smaller in the image lends to the sensation of height. Goodun!

Oh and I love the "yoinked" in the notes.
Michel Michel
The shadow seems like the right size. The glider would be the right size too if you took the picture from an airplane or should be about the size of the shadow if the picture was taken from a satellite.
