I just got off from working a breakfast and lunch shift!...I'm about to fall over I'm so tired, but just had to check in on the Arborist topic! How exciting is that! I like them very much. It's so interesting to hear everyone voice their oppinions about what is what. Very educational for me.

You guys and gals are great.

Kathy

HA!
Hey Kansas,
I am telling ya....and this is my "THING"...
Going w/ DP's tree, top and right or BEHIND Meaty's logo is over the top.
Tree care logos have taken up a lot of my time the last few years,
and are very likely the reason I ever got into chopping in the first place.
And dp's tree.....I've literally looked at or worked on thousands of tree
silhouettes for lettering and logos and quite honestly,
and ridiculously...DP's is the best I've ever seen...
If WE didn't have a logo already set in stone I would be offering DP
payment right now to use it...and DP....Dude, that's a fantastic silhouette.

DP...change it to "Arbor Barber" so the message gets across

Botanic art makes it look like he's an artist...

A good logo gets the message across graphically. Aim for the lowest common denominator--if they get it--everyone will get it....get it?

now i'm up to 4 cents... Confused

I like Canuck's the best, but they all look good. I think that a logo has to be simple more than anything else. You want something that will look good big or small, black and white, one color, multi color. If you want to be really nice, you can dummy up some kind of logo header type deal, so that when he writes a letter or sends an invoice, he can just "insert picture" from Word and it'll come up looking like letterhead paper. Most of all, remind him to think about all the things he needs to do with his logo...he probably has a truck, so he'll want it on his truck, and interesting enough so that people at stop lights next to him look at it and whatnot. But also on his bidnesscards, where they start charging an arm and a leg for color, he might just want black and white for those. If he's going to advertise in the Yellow Pages, it's got to be something that will look good the size of a postage stamp, so you need to avoid lettering that won't reduce well. And so forth. Here's what I came up with:

And then one color:

And then multi-color:

I've got bigger versions, if you want them. I always tell clients that simple is waaaay more effective than clever when it comes to a logo. Save clever for the trees, like Edward Scissorhands.

Yep Queen love the art and you along with Eve are giving me some great feedback as far as what a logo should do for you.

this thread is awesome as it's education and fun to learn things I only kind of knew about.

There are so many different things to know about..Thanks for filling me in!

We'll just label this thread.. Logo's 101.

I'll know more tomorrow.

After all the different logos came in over the weekend. does anyone want to comment on their favorite and give feedback why they like it.

Loved Queens feedback. Maybe someone else would like to add their wisdom about logo's to the thread.

Thanks peoples.
