Ok im trying to submitt my first entry since the new dimension took effect. but it keeps telling me ERROR. Can somebody give me a step-by-step walk through for making sure everything is correct.

I currently use PSCS2

The forum says: Advantage members can upload images up to 1280x960 and as much as 512KB in filesize. Does 1280x960 mean pixal dimensions?

So I got to save my Entry (Save As), I title my entry and then a pop up comes up (JPEG Options), I change Size to 512 and it states (~915.84K/17.88s) "what the heck does that mean... I dont want to sound like an idiot but I need to know these things. Embarassed

The Forum states: all entries must be at least 500x350 (pixels WxH) or they will not be accpeted.

Does this mean that I have to resize my entry before saving by going up to
"Image" ---> "Image size" and changing the pixal dimensions to 500x350...? This makes my picture wicked small... I dont get it...

HELP, IM HAVING PSC WITHDRAWLS.

Any help would be greatly appricated!

Thanks!

your fellow artist friend,

Aaron

no more than 512kb.
at the top of the Advantage page:
" Pre-Post, 512KB max file size"

If your image is 915kb, its too big. Smile

that means:

1. yer pic may have the width according to this
500 pixels < yer entry width in pixels < 1280 pixels

2. yer pic may have the height according to this
350 pixels < yer entry height in pixels < 960 pixels

3. yer pic may have the size according to this
0 Kb < yer entry size in kbytes < 512 Kb

"So I got to save my Entry (Save As), I title my entry and then a pop up comes up (JPEG Options), I change Size to 512 and it states (~915.84K/17.88s)"

you're breaking rule number 3 as follows:
what is supposed to be: 0 Kb < yer entry size in kbytes < 512 Kb
what is now: 0 Kb < yer entry size in kbytes ( 915Kb ) > 512 Kb

reduce the jpeg quality until it gets under 512 and everything will be fine.

hope this helped you.
best regards,
arc

I really really recommend that you use SAVE FOR WEB (instead of SAVE AS) for preparing Jpegs for the web.

Its a little confusing until you know what the hell is going on - then it is a dream!

You get to it by going to FILE > SAVE FOR WEB

1) choose the 2 Up tab (so you can compare the original with the compressed image.)

2) select JPEG here (unless you want to play with the GIF option... for "photographic" style images use JPEG, for flat images with no gradients you can try GIF)

3) click on that little sideways arrow to open a slider, and there you can try different 'quality' settings WHILE YOU KEEP AN EYE ON...

4) this tells you your final compressed file size . So basically move the QUALITY knob around (#3) until you get the size you need here.

You also can keep your eye on the comparison image on the right side - sometimes you can have the file size much less than the maximum allowed here, and the image will still look just fine.

And I am suspisious of your NAME: Ballin' Theresa. How does Theresa feel about you advertising your sex life in a public place? (now this would not be so bad if you actually had ANYTHING at ALL to do with Photoshopping here, but so far (as previously mentioned) you've got nothing to show. All this aside, welcome to the Site and DON'T FORGET TO USE SAVE FOR WEB, Dammit!
