So here's the tale. The other day, whilst taking the possessed cloth on a photo tour of the town, I took some pics to submit to PSC for daily sources.

I failed to notice that my daughter (budding photog) had "adjusted" the settings on the camera.

So now my photos are the wrong size to make 1280x760. Keeping the aspect ratio I get 1013x760 instead. Now I've got a bunch of pics that I can't submit unless I put a nasty ugly border on the sides (or crop the originals badly). Crying or Very sad

Should I add the border and submit them? Or should I keep them to myself and use them as externals for future chops? Or do you all wanna see them?

What's the consensus? Below is an example of what they'd look like with the border. Yes I took the picture but NO this isn't one that I would actually submit as a source it's just an example.

Use the amazing photoshopping skillz you must posess to be a member of this site and edit the sides; Practice your image extension skills using the clonestamp tool! Very Happy

That does suck, though. You need to get a password protected camera! Razz

Haha I thought about doing that Mason. I really did. BUT I decided against it for a couple reasons.

1. There's too dang many photos I want to submit. I'd be at it forever
2. I didn't know if that would compromise the "spirit" of a source (same with having added the borders)
3. I'm too lazy to do the extensions and do them well. Laughing

Well, start a little group and have one member who wants to help edit one image each, or however many they want to do. Obviously you'd have to have people that are particularly good at that sort of thing; A crappily edited one definately wouldn't be accepted as a source. Just an idea. Smile

I'd chalk it up as a learning experience. Now, every time you go shoot you'll check your camera settings beforehand.

Use the images as your own source images. In my opinion, it'd be too much work to fix them just so you can submit them to the site. Yes, I am lazy! Razz

Good luck!

Actually my daughter is, imho, a very promising photographer. She's taken some nature shots that I really enjoyed.

I'm happy that she's not afraid to check out what the camera can do and to try all the settings. Hopefully she'll learn some cool things and show them to me. I just need to get in the habit of checking the settings before I shoot.

BTW, here's a pic that I shot (yes at the wrong aspect ratio) that I liked. I'm posting it here as it's a portrait orientation instead of landscape so it wouldn't have worked for a submission anyway. Click to embiggen:

Oh don't misunderstand me FF! I got the joke. Laughing

I'm always teasing my daughter about her infatuation with the camera. My wife and I bought it as a family camera but my daughter keeps referring to it as her camera. It's gotten to the point that she's getting her own digital camera with her birthday money this weekend.
